Downtown London and surrounding neighbourhoods in Central London are unique in the city for their walkability and access to one-of-a-kind services and venues. 

 

Downtown’s borders are roughly Dufferin Street and York Street (north-south) and Colborne and Ridout Streets (east-west).  Here you’ll find the Budweiser Gardens (home of the OHL’s London Knights), Citi Plaza (including Western Continuing Education and numerous other services), the Fanshawe College Downtown Campus, the London Convention Centre, the Central Branch of the London Public Library and the award-winning VIA Rail station.  Several businesses have offices in landmark buildings like the TD towers and One London Place, and London Life insurance company is headquartered in a picturesque historic campus.  Downtown is also home to several specialty restaurants, bars, and cafes (including the signature Covent Garden Market), and the Dundas Place project will create a pedestrian-friendly flex street for festivals and events.

 

Central London includes neighbourhoods around downtown, north to Oxford Street, west and south to the Thames River, and Adelaide Street to the east. Just outside of downtown lies Victoria Park and the Richmond Row shopping and entertainment district, well-known for the Grand Theatre, Museum London and numerous bars, restaurants, and one-of-a-kind shops and stores.  Several festivals also make their home here, including Sunfest, the Children’s Festival, Rock the Park, Home County Folk Festival and more.  On the east side of the core, the Midtown Junction area offers concerts at the Aeolian Hall, a unique Food Incubator with several emerging grocery, coffee, and other businesses.  Government services are also well represented in this district: City hall, Police headquarters, Fire Department headquarters, the Middlesex-London Health Unit, Middlesex County administration offices, and the provincial courthouse are all here.
